Annual dues could be free for Colorado Columbine Chapter needlepoint guild members!

Hello members of the Colorado Columbine Chapter!

October is our membership renewal month.. and we have exciting news!

Need a reason to join?

* Our chapter offers a wonderful selection of various programs each month.

* We belong to the Colorado Consortium and have the opportunity to take classes taught by national instructors in a small classroom environment.

* We also offer members the chance to participate in the Cheyenne Mountain Stitch Retreat, with classes taught by national instructors.

* Because we are lucky enough to live in a state where several national instructors live, we encourage members to take ‘pilot’ classes when they are offered by instructors looking for feedback on a piece before teaching it at seminar.  It is a great way to take a class for a reduced price before its taught nationally!

Now for the exciting news…

You have a chance to receive a year’s membership dues for FREE if you bring a new member who signs up and pays their dues.

Please make check payable to “CCC ANG” — $26 due in October.

Denver stitchers are off to ‘visit’ Vietnam in October!

Members of Colorado Columbine Chapter are in for a treat —  two world travelers will share delightful stories and photos of their time in Vietnam!  At our October 15 meeting, Cynthia L. and Pat D. will bring artifacts, stitched examples of local handiwork and a slide show of this rich culture.  The presentation will start promptly after the brief business meeting, so please be on time!  Doors open at 6:30 and meeting is at 7 p.m.  Don’t miss this dynamic duo!

We are all about stitching and needlepoint and know these are treasured activities around the world.  Be sure to join us for this special evening!

Spectacular detail on this spooktacular needlepoint firescreen.

The Colorado Columbine Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild will next meet on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church.  After a lovely summer break, members will reconvene to see a preview of the 2018-2019  classes & projects.

A special Show & Tell:  Bring a very favorite piece of needlepoint to show and share!  We want to hear why it speaks to the heart, no matter whether you stitched it or grandma did.  We all love, love, love needlepoint, so there will never be a more appreciative audience for your efforts!  The spectacular Halloween fire screen above, stitched by a member, was a showstopper!  Will it make the cut as the stitcher’s favorite?  Can’t wait to see!

Summer needlepointing is underway in Denver

scissorsCaseFebProgram2018Our July class is a charming scissors case stitched on paper! A very antique look for our stitching rooms.

Our June meeting offered a Fourth of July class to stitch a merry dress form in red, white and blue, of course!

We take a break in August, then resume meetings on the third Monday  in September. Join us!

New board & new needlepoint projects for Denver’s top chapter of American Needlepoint Guild

Denver stitchers will induct new Colorado Columbine Chapter board members on April 16 to kick off a new phase of needlepoint offerings! Members are always treated to a catered dinner as they welcome a new slate of officers.

The May meeting will be a Stash Sale to allow members to part with old favorites and go home with ‘new’ goodies!  Bring nearly new projects, either canvas or threads or both, to allow others to bid on and take home. Voila! Empty shelves for incoming…

In June, we put on our three-cornered hats and begin to stitch up a Painted Pony Patriotic Dress Form to jazz up our Fourth of July displays!  Each stitcher is encouraged to try new threads, stitches and beads to expand stitching horizons:

In July, we get to jump in to this delightful scissors case, laden with beads and counted stitches!

Needlepoint always means a happy holiday for Denver stitchers

Happy holidays to members of Colorado Columbine Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild!

As we take a break from regular meetings in December to enjoy our families, friends and stitching time at home, we are thankful for all the year’s blessings.  Our members are especially pleased to have such an absorbing, soothing, meditative activity as needlepoint to enjoy.  Come join us in January when meetings resume, and see what we’ve got coming up in 2018:

On January 19, 2018, we will be stitching a Heidi Stanley piece, a monogram which will be individualized with a special plaid chosen by each stitcher.  The class is closed, but it will be fun to see what develops!

scissorsCaseFebProgram2018

On February 20, a charming paper scissors case will be our focus, all beaded and stitched on perforated paper.  This will make a beautiful piece to display in our stitching rooms!

GildedPearsMarch2018

In March, a stunning Ruth Schmuff piece called Gilded Pears will be taught by Julie, its rich colors on a dark background that is going to be fun.

Then in June, just in time for the Fourth of July, we will be stitching a perky Painted Pony Patriotic Dress Form just for fun!  See you there.

As always, many thanks to our wonderful team of program directors, Madonna and Julie:

An important note from our Membership Director, Susan:

Hello everyone!

We had such fun at the July meeting with Open Stitch night.  It was awesome to chat and see what everyone is working on!  Nothing short of amazing IMHO!

As we head into fall, I need to start collecting the 2018 membership dues.  I started collecting checks at the July meeting and hope to see all of you in September at the meeting.  Of course if you can’t make it you can always mail our fearless leader/president, Gloria, a check (Please refer to your Members Directory for her address).

Dues haven’t increased this year (again!) and are $26.00.  Please make your check payable to CCC-ANG.

The deadline for collecting dues is the October meeting so don’t delay in sending in your dues.. so you can get back to stitching!  Reminder, you must be up-to-date with your national dues as well.

Thanks in advance for staying on top of your dues and see you all in September!

Susan

If you signed up for these September classes, plan to enjoy quickly stitching these holiday beauties, a menorah ornament kit, approximately 4″x5″ and a peace dove ornament kit, which, finished, is about 5″ across:

This month, with our Kirk & Bradley Floral Heart Flags underway, we will convene on July 17 (downstairs this time) to meet with the year’s instructors of each needlepoint class.  Any questions, problem stitching areas, finer points needing to be discussed will have expert attention all evening.  Let’s get those projects off to the finishers!

Patriotic needlepoint brings out the sparklers for Denver stitchers this summer

20160919_184942

It’s summer and the Fourth of July on our minds.  There is nothing more fun than stitching an American flag or any patriotic motif in needlepoint!  Denver members of the Colorado Columbine Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild will meet in June to stitch a Kirk & Bradley design, Floral Flag Heart.  It’s all sparkly threads and cute checks.

More classes for upcoming months will be rolled out by our incomparable team of Program Co-Directors, Julie & Madonna:

Spring-green needlepoint in Denver is underway!

He’s big, he’s green, but he’s not mean!  Denver needlepointers are about to be delighted by a special guest, Mr. Al E. Gator, who is in the wings with a wonderful guest instructor, Gretchen W.  She will guide the Colorado Columbine Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild through a class of fun stitching on May 15, 2017, to create this charming frame weight.
